What are you leaving on the Table?

Bible Text: Luke 15:28 |

What are you leaving on the table?

The complete message is coming out of Luke 15:11-31. We often hear messages of the prodigal son, today's message dealt with the older son.

Verse 28 deals with his anger and him refusing to go in to the celebration, The father comes out and speaks with him about his attitude. The eldest son said I've been with you all these years and you never gave me a kid but you gave him the fatted calf. The father reminded him that it was the right thing to do to celebrate his brothers return. The older brother was overcome with jealousy. The father also reminded him that all that he has is his not just a kid.

The point of this message regarding the older brother is that we can be in church and be overcome with jealousy but we must remember that Christ will sit down next to us and show us the right way to go. The envy and jealousy trick of the enemy is as old as Genesis 4 between Cain and Abel, between Jonah and not wanting to pray for the city of Niveveh, between Martha and Mary when Martha felt overwhelmed.

If we walk away or not come in, What are we leaving on the table?

Let us examine what's on the table:

There is salvation, the Holy Spirit, the bread of life, the sanctified blood of Jesus Christ and there is an anointing on the table, in Mark 7:28 even the crumbs from this table can deliver a little girl from demon possession.

Oh but there is a requirement at this table in 1Corinthians 10:21 it says you cannot drink of the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons you cannot partake of the Lord's table and the table of demons.

In 1Cor 11:23-29 this table holds the Lord supper, it has the broken body of our saver and the cup of the New Testament on this table.

Psalms 23:5-6 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Come and dine!
