Bible Text: Acts 27:39-44 |

Determine to make it

Acts 27:39-44,  Acts 28:1-6,  2Cor 4:8-9, 16-18

The story found in Acts 27 is of the Apostle Paul who after warning went to Jerusalem and was imprisoned and while imprisoned was transported on a broken ship being battered by the waves and currents of the sea.
Later in the chapter it was recorded that the ship was destroyed and all the people on board namely prisoners had to swim to shore, some had to make it to shore by the broken pieces of the ship wreck.
Many times in life we find our own lives to be a drift at in the depth of sea. Life can be an overwhelming ocean as well…There is debts, sicknesses, relationship, work and many other overwhelming stressor. The warning signs of drowning are not easily seen and experts says many drown because the signs are not typically noticeable. There are many signs that we are drowning, some are loss of breath, not being able to talk to anyone about what you are going through, lack of responsiveness, this is when we close our eyes and stop acknowledging what life is requiring of us.
Although our lives are busy and challenging and at many times feel like we will drown the story reminds us that no matter what we will make it to the shore. God promises to give us something to help us along to the promise land. Some are able to swim to the promise while others have to reach out for the broken pieces of their ship. Don’t succumb to the temptation of quitting because the ship has crashed but determine to make it, even if you have to make it on broken pieces!
